Happy Birthday!
1st July 2024
On this milestone birthday, I wasn’t sure what to give you. Mainly because we always plan to do things around your birthday anyway. But being that this is a special birthday and it being the 13th that I have been lucky enough to experience with you, I thought I would put together this little page as a way to look back on thirteen wonderful years celebrating with you.
2011
The first birthday that I got to celebrate with you. One of the few times you got actual fireworks on the day. And of course, the classic Coles Muddy as the cake, complete with the over-sized meat clever to cut into it.

2012
The first and only birthday without you. Your queen, Katy Perry hosted a special premiere for her film up in Sydney and nothing was going to stop you from going. Even though you went without me, I managed to meet Beast from X-Men haha. I think yours was much better though!

2013
The first of many visits to Yum-Cha on your birthday. There is no better way to celebrate than to eat the food you love the most. I am not sure why I never had Yum-Cha before meeting you, but I am forever grateful for the introduction to the best way to eat prawns.

2014
Your love for penguins is unmatched and it has only rubbed off on me. They are small, feisty and resilient just like you. This was also a special milestone birthday and we had our very own Penguin Day Out. We even got to meet them inside the enclosure. A special memory indeed.

2015
I have never met anyone that loves musical theatre the way that you do. To the point that it has ignighted a love for theatre that I never knew I had. What a better way to celebrate this birthday than a trip to the theatre to see one of our favourites, The Lion King.

2016
The only thing bigger than your love for Theatre would have to be your love for Disney. And whilst a visit to Disney Land may be a few years away, I will always cherish our time together at Disney On Ice. A show that also happens to fall on or around your birthday each year. A tradition that I look forward to each year. You are always so happy attending these shows and it makes me happy to see you experience such joy.

2017
Whilst we don’t attend many conventions any more, except for the best one ever, PAXaus, this year was a lot of fun. It was OzComicCon capped off with another cake shared with family.

2018
Another trip to the theatre. This time for Beautiful The Carole King Musical at Her Majesty’s Theatre. And whilst it didn’t occur on your birthday, not long after, we got engaged. A memory that I couldn’t pass up on mentioning.

2019
The first birthday as an engaged couple. I love this photo of you with The Penguin so much. Your love for him is so special and I am thankful that you chose to share it with me. And of course, the meat clever returns for a cake that is way too small for it haha.

2020
The year the world changed. COVID locked us all in our homes and it was challenging for all of us. The difference was to most, is that I got through it with my best friend. And as the stars aligned, we were allowed out of lockdown just in time to celebrate your birthday. And we did so with another of your favourite things, Art. A trip to the NGV was just what we needed during this tough time.

2021
The year your love for Oodies bloomed. So much so that you got a whole bunch of them. And whilst at first I didn’t really need so many, I know now that you can never really have enough of them. Of course, your favourite one at the time was this one with the Penguins. You also had a Matcha Crepe Cake. I think the flowers came from your work? I honestly cannot remember, but you look very happy with them.

2022
You look so cozy and happy in this photo. A perfect representation on how happy you are every year you get to celebrate your birthday. We didn’t actually do too much on this day except shop for our upcoming wedding. Disney on Ice was on the day after, but we still had a great day celebrating another trip around the sun together.

2023
This year, you guessed it, Disney on Ice again! And on your birthday this time. We even took home a new friend with Pua! And of course, it wouldn’t be complete without another celebratory cake. Well, cupcakes. Red Velvet of course.

2024
I don’t have a photo of this day yet because well, it has not happened yet! But we did get to experience Lightscape together and you had the best time. The smile on your face here is what I always love to see. You find joy in everything we do together and I love experiencing them with you.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY LOVE!
This year we will have been together for 14 years and I couldn’t have imagined my life would turn out this way. I am so extremely lucky to have you in my life. Not only have we experienced many wonderful birthdays together, I have also watched you evolved into the incredible human you are today. You are driven, determined, passionate, creative and know how to get things done! Your passion for the arts and live music has developed into one of the things I am most proud of, LILITHIA REVIEWS. I do not know anyone that is as hard working as you and at times I honestly do not know how you do it. It also only seemed fitting that on your actual birthday, we’re off to review another event, the BABYBEARD concert and your first ever interview.
I am so proud of the person you have become and I cannot wait to experience what comes next.
Love forever and always, your penguin, Grant ❤️
